I don’t like rest days. But I thought a rest day would make the next day easier. It did not. Today I felt every one of the 13 miles. My legs and feet are good. Sore but good. No blisters so far. But my back is aching and today my knee is swollen. Yes that knee. Right now I have it propped up and ice on it. I took some Ibuprofen, but it is aching. So what do I do now? I don’t want to take another rest day but if I keep going my knee will only get worse. I’m going to try to find a pharmacy and get a knee brace which will help how
It feels but won’t really fix anything. Maybe I’ll find a doc and get a steroid shot to get me through. Not sure yet.
Today wasn’t terrible. I saw a lot of beauty, spotted a deer (Gene will be proud), ate some good food, and ate cherries from a cherry tree in an abandoned lot. I talked to some friendly pilgrims and found a great hostel by the water for tonight.
But I also wondered all day why I’m doing this, and if I can do it. The novelty has worn off, I guess. And it’s just hard to walk that far every day with 16lbs on your back. Plus I have lost all my friends from the first 2 days. This happens after the first 2 towns where hostels are limited so you all end up in the same one. After that there are a lot more options, and most people don’t pick one ahead of time so it’s hard to plan. You may all be in the same town but spread all over the place.
So it feels a bit lonely now.
Don’t worry about me. I’m fine and I will be fine. This is normal for the Camino. If you’d like to say some prayers for my knee I would appreciate it.
Tomorrow is another day on the Camino and life goes on!
Update: went to town ate some dinner, went to a pharmacy. Sweet young pharmacist/soccer player female, who’s had knee problems, helped me out. Got a good knee brace. Took some ibuprofen, and feeling better. Love you all.

Praying for you and your knee. I can relate to the pain. So glad you are pushing forward and overcoming that wall that everyone reaches at some point. I can’t wait to hear about this incredible journey.
Wow! Keep going Tina! Love reading your diary!

Prayers doubled today!!! I love that you are sharing everything with us! Happy you are feeling better!
We love you back!!
Gotch ya!
Hang in there. I don’t know of any pilgrim that hasn’t had a post like this somewhere on the journey. I hope the meds, ice and rest helps the knee. Where pulling for you.
Prayers for you every day. Sorry your knee is fighting the challenge, good to hear you found a knee brace, hope it improves your walk.
God sees all, so you know, He will step in to give you comfort and help your decisions.
Blessings,
Judy
It’s Lynn Brunner from church, Tina. I began catching up with your journey 2 days ago.. What an adventure you’ve begun. Glad you took a day of rest but sad your knee is swollen & painful. I could almost feel your spirit sinking thru your words. Take heart . You are not alone & many prayers are covering you. You have already accomplished much more than most would even consider taking on. Hopefully the brace will help. Maybe consider another bus ride to catch up to friends. If not, I am sure Jesus will place someone else beside you. Might even be someone who needs to be walking with you. Sleep well. Lynn B.
Prayers and love coming your way, Tina! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
We are praying for less discomfort on your knee! God will help you figure what to do-maybe a shot!!! Taking time to see the sights more carefully and doing some writing would be wonderful for you, too. xx
I’m a practical girl. I might consider getting myself a bicycle so I could enjoy the scenery and the experience and save my knee. Many prayers surrounding you. 🙂
Yay for the female pharmacist! God put her there! Just keep on walking, Tina. Praying the knee feels better. We all love you! 🥰
Of course we’d like to pray for your knee!!!!❤️🙏🏻❤️. Great job, Tina!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Tina, I am thankful you got some relief for your knee. God is so amazing in providing a pharmacist who could relate to your problem and offer you what you needed to keep going. I admire your desire and dedication to completing the Camino. You go girl!! Love you. 🙏🏻❤️
Listen to God. Listen to your body. Take that rest when you need it. I am sounding pretty bossy. Sorry about that. Remember that already what you have accomplished is big. Maybe losing contact with the first pilgrim group is creating the opportunity to meet others. Prayers for your knee and your stamina.
